Château Romassan

“Here, the power of the soils comes to the fore thanks to the positive effects of gentle, eco-friendly winegrowing”. Phillipe Thénot, vineyard manager at Château Romassan

Acquired by the Ott family in 1956, Château Romassan sits tucked away between the Sainte-Baume massif and the shores of the Mediterranean, in the commune of Le Castellet. The magnificent 18th-century château is adjoined by the historic cellar, which was modernised in 2023 to allow for increasingly precise winemaking.

The plots for Château Romassan’s red wines are selected for their ability to combine perfect exposure with good soil quality. The Gobelet method is used in the vineyards with the vines being trained individually on stakes. This unique training system allows the grapes to develop their full potential, resulting in wines with excellent cellar-ageing potential.

Château Romassan’s magnificent terroir is spread over the 8 communes of the Bandol AOC with soils made up of limestone, sandstone and marl with plenty of gravel. Planted on terraces and “restanques”, these vineyards are the birthplace of a rosé and two reds, whose structure is provided by Mourvèdre, the king grape variety of one of the most demanding AOCs in France.
