Château Romassan Rouge

AOC Bandol

“A great Provençal wine, whose quality is inextricably linked to bespoke winegrowing practices that have always been sustainable and deeply respectful of nature”. Estelle Mazoire, cellar master at Château Romassan

The altitude, the terraces, the different exposures and the old vines are a real treasure trove for the creation of very fine red wines. Château Romassan Red is just such a wine, masterfully taming the Mourvèdre grape and undergoing an intentionally long ageing period to add a unique finesse of tannins and silkiness to its concentration and depth.

Mourvèdre, Cinsault, Grenache

At Château Romassan, the Gobelet training method, with the vines being trained individually on stakes, is used on the plots destined for the future red wine blends. This innovative training system allows each vine to interpret the soul of the terroir in its own manner and to reproduce its authentic character.

The wine displays a sustained garnet-red hue. The nose presents deep aromas of red berries, liquorice and garrigue scrubland. The palate is velvety, with very silky tannins, showing a controlled power that stretches over the palate with elegant minty overtones. The 18 months in oak, followed by up to 24 months in the bottle, play a major role in the final structure of the wine and the development of its great cellar-ageing potential.
